Fritillaries
Snake's Head Fritillary flowers at springtime

Fritillaria meleagris is a Eurasian species of flowering plant in the lily family, it has many common names including possibly my favourite " Frogs Cup". It is a native plant and normally grows in hay meadows but due to habitat erosion is becoming increasingly rare in the wild. These plants flower ever year on a roadside verge at Instow in North Devon, probably planted by a local resident....a welcome sight non the less. Instow. North Devon
