(Quercus petraea), commonly known as the Sessile Oak. These beautiful and twisted old oak trees are in Barton Wood high above the East Lyn River near Watersmeet in Exmoor National Park. Seen here on a very overcast Februaury morning. The flat ligthing and the rain the night before just seem to make the colours more vibrant and add to the mystery of this wonderful woodland.
